Joe Greene is fueled by a great passion – to help and unite the security community to accomplish good. As the Chief Information Security Officer for the American Chemical Society, has the opportunity to bring his wealth of knowledge and expertise to transform American Chemical Society business model while implementing solutions to protect its members, publications, products, and workforce members. This focus allows him to help organizations go beyond technology to resolve their struggles and to work with business executives to deliver solutions that create real value for organizations.

 

Greene brings to his role 20 years of experience building and executing successful strategic security programs. He leverages innovative approaches to develop and deliver a comprehensive suite of services and solutions that help CXO executives change their security strategies to ensure success, while aligning to business goals. Greene oversees strategic internal architecture and engineering initiatives around threat management, risk management, third-party risk management, vulnerability management, identity and access management, and data program protection at Optiv. Greene helps ensure the success of executive security partners by strategically aligning with their business goals.

 

Prior to joining American Chemical Society, Greene was the Director of Information Security Architecture and Engineering in the Office of the CISO for Optiv, which was created in 2015 as a result of the Accuvant and FishNet Security merger, Greene has the opportunity to bring the CISO community together to discuss concerns, share ideas, innovate and help each other overcome challenges.  In his role as the Information Technology Cyber Security Risk engineering Director for JP Morgan Chase, he was a driving force behind the company’s transformation of solutions that provided innovation, speed to market, risk reduction, and cost containment deployed across all lines of business globally.   In his previous role as Vice President of Information Risk Manager, Greene significantly decreased the company’s risk by developing and executing on a successful security program for everything publically hosted on JP Morgan Chase web presence.  Providing a program that protected personal information for 450 million customers and over 380,000+ workforce members across the globe. Prior to JP Morgan Chase, Greene worked for OhioHealth for over 10 years and left the organization as the Director of Information Security.  In addition, Greene also created the course work to teach students around the globe on “Digital Crime and Forensics” for Devry University Online.

 

Greene, a well-known thought leader and highly requested speaker has helped companies plan, build and run security programs. He has also developed solutions for network architecture and application security, penetration testing, incident response, security and risk assessment, forensics and investigations and product security.  Greene earned his master’s and bachelor’s degree at Capella University where he studied Information Technology and holds a number of technical certifications.  He has been quoted in, and published by, multiple media outlets and has presented at or keynoted more than 20 conferences worldwide.
